Formation & Fun Facts
Tiger Eye is a variety of quartz that forms through the pseudomorphic replacement of crocidolite (blue asbestos) fibers with silica. Its chatoyant shimmer — the "cat's eye effect" — is caused by light reflecting off the parallel fibers within the stone. The finest Tiger Eye comes from South Africa and Western Australia. Each mushroom is hand-carved, so no two are exactly alike.
