Amethyst is a variety of quartz whose signature purple hue comes from iron impurities and natural irradiation within the earth. It forms inside volcanic geodes and hydrothermal veins — some of the most breathtaking Amethyst cathedrals in the world come from Brazil and Uruguay. The name comes from the ancient Greek amethystos, meaning "not intoxicated" — the Greeks believed it kept the mind clear and protected against excess. These mini points are natural, unpolished Amethyst with natural terminations.
