Brecciated Jasper forms when jasper is fractured by geological forces and then re-cemented by silica-rich groundwater, often incorporating hematite and other minerals in the process. The word "breccia" comes from the Italian for "broken rock" — a reference to the angular fragments visible within the stone. It's found primarily in the United States, South Africa, and Australia.
