Apatite is a calcium phosphate mineral found in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks around the world. It's one of the few crystals that exists in all three major rock types, and it's actually a component of human bones and teeth — making it one of the most biologically connected minerals on Earth. Its name comes from the Greek apatao, meaning "to deceive," because it was often mistaken for other minerals. Major sources include Brazil, Madagascar, Mexico, and Russia.
