A stone of protection and compassion that reminds one to be gentle with one's self. Dispels all negativity and judgement. Acts as a filter, cleansing energy — great for situations in which a negative energy cannot be avoided, a negative co-worker or family member — as this stone acts as a filter for the energy and is gentle on both you and the negative person.
If it breaks or crumbles, the energy absorbed is too much, and it is suggested to bury it, to return it to the earth to cleanse. That is not a ruined stone; that is the stone finishing its work.
Black Tourmaline is also said to shield a space from EMF — many people keep a piece beside the router, the computer or the bedside for exactly that.
