It's relatively rare in its natural form — much of the Citrine on the market is heat-treated Amethyst, which turns golden when heated. Natural Citrine forms primarily in Brazil, Madagascar, and the Congo. It's been used in jewelry and spiritual practice since ancient Greece, where it was carried as a talisman against evil thoughts and snake venom.
