Crystal Care

Agate and Quartz are both durable minerals at Mohs 6.5–7 and the polished surfaces are safe for gentle cleaning with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners. The Quartz crystal pockets are slightly more delicate than the polished faces — handle with care around those areas. For energetic cleansing, smudging with sage or sound cleansing with a singing bowl works beautifully at this scale.

What Is This Stone?

This slab is a natural combination of Agate — a microcrystalline variety of quartz with characteristic banding — and macrocrystalline Quartz, which forms the visible crystal pockets within the matrix. Both are silicon dioxide, but formed under different conditions: the Agate through slow, layered deposition in volcanic cavities, and the Quartz through faster crystallization in open spaces within the same rock. The result is a single specimen that contains two distinct expressions of the same mineral, each beautiful in its own right and more striking together than either would be alone.
