About the Stone

Lapis Lazuli is a rock rather than a single mineral — deep blue lazurite with white calcite and brassy flecks of pyrite. The finest has come from the same mines in Badakhshan, Afghanistan, for over 6,000 years, and ground lapis was once ultramarine, the most expensive pigment in the world.

Wearing & Care

Copper darkens naturally as it is worn — a polishing cloth brings the shine back, or let it take on its patina. Put the pendant on last, after perfume and lotion, and take it off for showers, swimming and sleep. Do not soak Lapis, and never use salt water: its calcite dissolves and its pyrite rusts.
